This month I’m giving you my take on Arnold Schwarzeneggar’s Predator. I thought it timely because its prequel, Prey, is being released on Hulu in August, and Marvel is also releasing a new comic series based on the property:
I don’t have high hopes for either of those, but in 1987, I was young and impressionable, and Predator was damn cool, so I’m going to give my take on it, but first, this thing that people do:
“What should we watch?” - This is the question I ask my wife almost every night we eat dinner at home. It is literally the most difficult decision we have to make all day. Here’s what we have been deciding lately:
Only Murders in the Building: I don’t care if this is uncool or makes me sound like an old man, but I love this show. I have always been a huge fan of Steve Martin and Martin Short, and Selina Gomez as the voice of reason, and present-day norms, keeps everything grounded. The juxtaposition of these three numbskulls solving a murder while hilariously trying to make a true crime podcast about it is so well done. I have been told more than a few times that, in my writing, and my life, I handle weighty topics lightly, so maybe that’s why I like this show so much. Whatever the reason, it’s damn funny and I can’t recommend it enough. Season two just started, but I highly recommend going back to stream season 1 if you haven’t seen it..
Listen here, you: I make and listen to podcasts, as one does.
Summer S’Mores with Conan O’Brian & the Summer Chill Chums (Or something like that): I have always enjoyed Conan’s humor, but the podcast format is definitely right in his wheelhouse. They are in their second season of this, and it’s basically Conan and his regular podcast team of his assistant Sona and Matt Gourley just riffing, no guests or anyone else. I have no real evidence to back this up, but my assumption is that Conan can’t bring himself to take the summer off, so he just keeps the podcast going. And I’m all for that. His psychosis is my listening pleasure.
Various Other Stuff: If you’re still here, I’ve done a lot of podcasts, a few comics, and I have a Teepublic store, so check all that out, if you please. And now, on to the ramblings…
