It recently occurred to me that at the end of every post I make on here, I ask that readers check out my podcast, my Red Bubble store, and my comic, with links to make it super-easy, but I don’t know that anyone has ever done so. If you have, well, I love you.
If you haven’t, it may be because you don’t read comics, or just don’t know what mine is about. So, I figured in case anyone was on the fence, I thought I would give you a free taste. Issue #0 is already up for free on the official website, so why not save you one click and put it up here as well? If you want the trade paperback featuring issues #1-#4, that is available on Amazon, in physical or digital formats.
The blurb I commonly use when people ask goes like this:
In this modern update of the classic Robin Hood legend, the bold outlaw and his men scour the town of Sherwood in search of medicine to give to those in need.
So, there you go. This Robin Hood steals medicine. It’s a commentary on today’s health care crisis. Yeah, I said it. As a diabetic, I can tell you that it is a crisis. But it’s mostly a fun adventure book.
The covers were done by talented artsists from all over the globe, including one by the same artist who did the interiors, Mark Louie Vuycankiat, and also lends his immense talent to the comic The Edge right here on Substack:
They actually asked if I wanted to get in on the ground floor of that, and like a fool, I said no because my comic was supposed to take place “in the real world,” and I thought it would somehow subvert the message I was trying to convey. When really, the message should have been, “Hell yes. I want an action figure!”
Anyway, here is Mark’s cover art for issue #0:
And here’s one of the covers of the actual trade by artist Ray Dillon:
Some people are surprised when I tell them I created a comic (maybe because I can’t draw), but I’m not going to pat myself on the back too much because a lot of people have done it, and with a lot more success than I had. But it is an actual comic, with words, pages, art. So if you like comics, or stories, or Robin Hood, or just want to check it out for a lark, here is the issue #0 file:
If you like it, maybe think about checking out the full trade. If you don’t want to use Amazon, just send me a message and I’ll read it to you. Just kidding, I can send you one for a very small fee. Or just become a paid subscriber, and maybe you’ll get some Robin Hood goodies. Either way, thanks for reading and keep on keepin’ on.
Those are really great covers!
